INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

The Instructional Design & Technology master of science degree program is designed to provide new tools and methods to improve instruction. Some of these methods include the use of tools like Apple’s professional media creation applications and other digital media concepts – in addition to fundamental techniques like storytelling and game strategy.

Visual and Verbal Communications in Instructional Design

Creating this product in Captivate involved grasping many concepts. I prioritized simplicity and refrained from developing a complex learning product; instead, I built on the work I created during my cinematography school days and focused on learning Captivate

Filmmaking Principles for Instructional Design

This month in Learning Management Systems and Organization, I learned that selecting an LMS involves much more than choosing software with attractive features. A successful LMS must support the needs of the learners, instructors, administrators, and organization. I learned about essential LMS components, including course and user management, assessments, communication tools, accessibility, reporting, security, and mobile access. I also gained a better understanding of LMS roles, content standards, governance, and the importance of keeping instructional materials current and organized.

Applying these concepts to the NAOP.US Creator Academy helped me turn an idea into a practical four-week podcasting course.

I used Bloom’s Taxonomy to write measurable learning objectives and developed a content map that connects each objective with instructional materials, research, activities, and assignments. I also explored how HighLevel could deliver self-paced lessons, videos, webinars, quizzes, downloadable resources, and learner support. Most importantly, I learned that implementing an LMS requires careful planning, testing, instructor preparation, learner feedback, and ongoing evaluation. This course gave me a clearer understanding of how technology, instructional design, and organizational leadership must work together to create a successful learning experience.
